FAFSA or the Federal Application for Student Aid is a very important thing to understand as it can play a big factor in paying for higher education. Each year on October 1st, FAFSA opens and is available for students to fill out to receive help paying for school. For students under the age of 26, their parent’s tax return (for the previous year) will be requested as part of the application process. Not everyone is eligible and there are various types of aid available including LOANS (must be re-payed) and GRANTS (are not re-payed, this aid is a GIFT).
